That is why the EU is developing and implementing the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP): a strategic concept which is to enhance the Union\u0092s capability to be a driver of reform &#8211; without automatically promising the &#8222;golden carrot\u0094 of membership to the neighbours. This book provides the reader with information on what ENP wants, how it works and what the prospects of the Union\u0092s cooperation with neighbouring countries are.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Die Europ\u00e4ische Union sucht nach neuen und effizienten Instrumenten f\u00fcr die Beziehungen zu ihrem unmittelbaren geographischen Umfeld. Die Europ\u00e4ische Nachbarschaftspolitik (ENP) zielt darauf ab, Stabilit\u00e4t und Prosperit\u00e4t in die \u00f6stliche und s\u00fcdliche Peripherie der Union zu exportieren, ohne dabei automatisch eine Mitgliedschaft versprechen zu m\u00fcssen. Das Buch, in dem Fachleute aus Wissenschaft und politischer Praxis zu Wort kommen, gibt zun\u00e4chst einen \u00dcberblick \u00fcber Beweggr\u00fcnde und Funktionsweise des strategischen Rahmens ENP. Exemplarisch gibt dann Einblick in wichtige Kooperationsfelder zwischen der EU und ihren Nachbarn, etwa Wirtschaft und Handel, Justiz und Inneres, Au\u00dfen- und Sicherheitspolitik, Demokratisierung oder Energie.
