Beschreibung
How can vocational secondary schools be transÂformÂed into study-related schools? What impact would this school type have? Taking the vocational Gymnasium in Baden-WürtÂtemÂberg, Germany, as a significant example, this study exÂamines the transformation of vocational schools empirically grounded and informed. Based on a broad range of docÂumentary records as well as research findÂings, this book links the rise of vocational GymnaÂsiÂum with the long-term development of the German GymÂnaÂsium. Furthermore, the empirical survey clarifies the relationÂship between institÂutionÂal differentiation and students’ educational pathÂways, providÂing particular insight into the current discussion on the German school sysÂÂtem. Thus, in addition to dealing with the transformation of the vocational GymnaÂsium, this book also presents a comÂpreÂhenÂsive account of current views on secÂondÂary education in Germany.
