This book deals with the interplay between identities, codes, stereotypes and politics governing the various constructions and deconstructions of gender in several Western and non-Western societies (Germany, Italy, Serbia, Romania, Cameroon, Indonesia, Vietnam, and others). Readers are invited to discover the realm of gender studies and to reflect upon the transformative potentialities of globalisation and interculturality.

„We are witnessing an incredible development in gender studies due to the involvement of many dedicated people with good knowledge and determination
to study the relevant issues, using a complex set of social science instruments. This book is an excellent example of how this research area grows organically, as authors from different countries and cultural contexts are able to have a common vision on how gender studies shall evolve. In order to see how gender issues are connected with political science and human rights this book is an instant classic.“
Radu Carp, Professor of Political Science, University of Bucharest
